World Justice Project report: Global Insights on Access to Justice

In the UK, 63% of the population have experienced a legal problem in the last two years.

This is according to the March 2018 report (pdf) from the World Justice Project on the global access to justice.

The report provides comparable data on legal needs and public access to civil justice on a global scale, representing the voices of more than 46,000 people in 45 countries.

The report finds:

  • In the UK, only 7% of the population turned to an authority or third party to help resolve the problem
  • 3% reported that one party resorted to physical violence
  • 40% experienced a hardship as a result of their legal problem.
