| Equality Bill in Queen's Speech |

The Queen's speech on 3 December 2008 included a commitment to introduce 'a Bill to promote equality, fight discrimination and introduce transparency in the workplace to help address the difference in pay between men and women'. The Equality and Diversity Forum issued a press release welcoming the announcement.

| EDF Seminar and report on public procurement |

On 27 November 2008, the Equality and Diversity Forum held a half-day seminar to launch a report on procurement by Clare Cozens, and to bring together experts, Government Officials and key stakeholders to consider the use of public procurement to promote equality. Angela Eagle MP Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury gave the key note speech at the seminar which was attended by more than 60 people from a wide range of organisations.
