Justice Committee inquiry into implications of Brexit for the justice system

The Justice Committee launched an inquiry into the implications of Brexit for the justice system in October 2016. The Committee would welcome written submissions from expert and affected parties to enable it to present the Government with recommendations concerning the questions which it will need to address in the eventual Brexit negotiation process.

The Committee invited written submissions of no more than 3,000 words in length; the deadline for these was Friday 11 November 2016. The submissions should provide views on the implications of Brexit for:

  • the criminal justice system in England and Wales and future co-operation in policing and judicial matters with EU member states and agencies, including Europol and Eurojust;
  • the civil justice system in England and Wales, including the Family Court and commercial courts; and/or
  • the legal services sector in England and Wales and the wider UK economy.
