Freedom of Information – consultation and responses

On 9 October 2015, the Commission on Freedom of Information launched a call for evidence on aspects of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The call closed on 21 November 2015.

UK Open Government Network evidence to the Freedom of Information Commission

On 21 September 2015, 140 media bodies, campaign groups and others, including the Equality and Diversity Forum, wrote to the Prime Minister expressing ‘serious concern’ at the government’s approach to the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.

The organisations are particularly concerned at the Commission on Freedom of Information, announced on 17 July 2015. They say its terms of reference make clear that ‘its purpose is to consider new restrictions to the Act’ and that there is no indication that it is expected to consider how the right of access might need to be improved.
