Liberty campaign: ‘For Their Eyes Only’

In February 2012, Liberty launched a campaign — ‘For Their Eyes Only’ — against the proposals contained in the Government’s Justice and Security Green Paper

The Paper proposes making Closed Material Procedures available in all civil litigation, allowing the press, public and bereaved families to be excluded from the courtroom where it is considered a public hearing could cause ‘damage to the public interest’.

Liberty is extremely concerned about this unprecedented move: its campaign will shine a light on these proposals which fundamentally undermine transparency, accountability and the Rule of Law.
