APPG on Charities and Volunteering: What next for charity governance? – 12 September 2017

The next meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Charities and Volunteering will look at some of the work being done to strengthen charities through changes to governance best practice.

Speakers:
  • Baroness Pitkeathley, chair of the House of Lords select committee on charities, will speak about the recommendations in the committee’s recent report Stronger Charities for a Stronger Society
  • Rosie Chapman, chair of the Charity Governance Code steering group, will discuss the new Charity Governance Code
  • Cathy James, Chief Executive of Public Concern at Work, will talk about supporting whistleblowers in the voluntary sector

Naa Acquah, former general secretary of Manchester University Student Union, on the student union’s recent work to diversify their board to closer reflect their beneficiaries.
